Shane Powell has dedicated his life to horses. Passionate about riding, training, and teaching, he is committed to helping students of all abilities achieve their goals. He finds deep satisfaction in bringing out the best in both horse and rider, and emphasizes strong fundamentals, compassion, and good horsemanship above all.

Determined to pursue a professional career, Shane accelerated his education—graduating high school in just 3.5 years—to begin working on the Florida winter circuit. Over the years, he has gained invaluable experience as a working student and assistant trainer for some of the sport’s most respected professionals, including Mark Jungherr, Susie Schoellkopf, and Jen Alfano.

Shane’s own success in the show ring includes back-to-back titles as the WCHR Southeast Developing Pro Champion, as well as top placings in numerous Hunter Derbies and Grand Prix events. He has brought along several outstanding young hunters through the Green Divisions, producing them into winning mounts for juniors and amateurs.

Out of the saddle, Shane’s students have earned top results at every level, from victories at the THIS Adult Medal Finals at the National Horse Show to strong performances in the Medal and Maclay Finals, Junior Hunter Finals, and Pony Finals. Known for his compassionate teaching style and great sense of humor, Shane connects with students of all ages and backgrounds.

With insights drawn from those formative experiences—and from running prior ventures such as Evermoor—Powell is excited to grow his latest endeavor, Connelly Brook, LLC. With locations in both Massachusetts and Ocala, FL, his goal is clear: “I want to create good riders and good horsemen.”
